The Philippine Blog Awards for Mindanao 2010 Best Technology Blog is Alleba Blog by Joseph Andrew dela Serna. Kuya Andrew, my cousin, was one of the pioneers of the Philippine web industry, as founder and developer of the Alleba Search Engine.

He started the Alleba Blog in 2004. And since then, he has reaped nominations for his blogs, blog themes, and plug ins. He has also established several other blogs such as Yeah Drew and Davao Foodie. He is part of a handful of group blogs like Tea Completely and My Davao City.

I am attending Cebu Blog Camp 2010. The event has a theme of “Blogging, Expressions, and Opportunities.”

The first speaker of the event is Mica Rodriguez, a blogger slash film maker from Dagupan. She will be talking about Blogging 101: Basics of Blogging. The talk is geared towards newbie bloggers and attendees who have yet to start their own blog. She will be focusing on the anatomy or parts of a blog post and what blogging platforms to use.

Google Country Consultant, Aileen Apolo – de Jesus will be discussing Blogging with Blogger and Adsense. She will tackle Blogger as a blogging platform, minor customizations one can do with his blog on Blogger, and how to install Adsense on Blogger.

A Guide to Creating an i.ph Blog

So you want to have your own blog, but don’t really know how to make one?

Here’s a tip for all you aspiring Pinoy bloggers out there, sign up with i.ph. i.ph is the perfect blog host for bloggers who want to have a personalized domain but don’t have the moolah for it.

Here’s a little step-by-step guide on how you can sign up for i.ph…

Step 1: Go to i.ph… type http://www.i.ph on your browser’s address bar or simply click on this link. Then, click on the Sign up now button!

Step 2: Fill up the online registration form.

After filling it up, you will see this…

Step 3: Log in to your email, and check your inbox.

(If the activation email is not in your inbox, check your bulk or spam folder.)

Open the actvitation email, and click on the activation link.

i.ph will then activate your account and blog.

Step 4: TADAAA…

You now have an i.ph account and blog!!! CONGRATULATIONS!

About once a month, bloggers go into a frenzy because of Google Page Rank (PR) updates. Some are happy that they have increased PR, while others complain that they have decreased.

I, myself, have experienced the highs and lows of following my blogs PRs. But while I understand (A BIT) what it is, a lot still don’t quite get what it is and what it means.

It’s quite a simple view and explanation of what Google PR is. We do not mean to misinterpret or misrepresent Google or Google Page Rank. This is how we see it and how we interpret it. I hope we clarified things for people (like me) who never really understood what PR is.
