WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange was arrested in London today, December 8, 2010. He is ordered to remain in custody for a hearing on December 14, 2010. The hearing, however, is not about the controversial WikiLeaks. The hearing will be about his possible extradition to Sweden. He is wanted in Sweden for questioning about allegations that Assange sexually assaulted two women.

Assange, an Australian, is trying to avoid extradition. An extradition to Sweden can lead to an extradition to the USA if he is charged with cases by the US government in relation to the disclosures made via WikiLeaks.

WikiLeaks has been disclosing, via a website, sensitive Department diplomatic cables and classified Pentagon files. Most of these information are regarding the US-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The two separate sexual assault charges could just be the beggining of Assange’s legal woes.
