I have been a Neo user for years. And I was ecstatic to review one of Neo’s newest products, the Neo B3233, a netbook from their Basic line.

Two of the things I noticed and appreciated very much were its size and weight. With a 10.1 inch LCD screen, the Neo B3233 weighs about 1.2 kilograms. Definitely portable.

It runs on an Intel Atom N450 CPU with a 2 GB DDR2 Memory and a 160 GB Hard Disk Drive. It comes with a Windows 7 Starter Edition. It has the hardware specs and the software to make it a netbook that is powerful enough for my online work, blogging and writing, MS office, and basic image manipulation tasks.

During the few months I used it, it didn’t overheat or hang on me. A problem which I had with my past Neo unit.

The Neo B3233 Netbook is definitely something I’d recommend as a netbook for anybody who needs a portable, affordable computing machine.

Neo B3233 Netbook

The Neo B3233 has a suggested retail price of less than PhP20,000. It is definitely a good buy for those who need a portable but functional netbook.

To test the usability and specs of the Neo B3233, I used to download, install, and play a new game: League of Legends.

The Neo B3233 runs on an Intel Atom N450 1.66 GHz CPU. Is that good enough? Well, I was able to play the game with little lag time. The graphics were also good enough.

The monitor display is a bit small for a rich gaming experience. The 10.1″ display wasn’t able to fit the entire gaming screen. I wasn’t able to buy some items. LOL!

It is a lightweight netbook, not designed for gaming. But it can be used for such purpose. So for gamers out there, wondering if their netbook is good enough for gaming, try out the Neo B3233.

The suggested retail price for the Neo B3233 is P15,999 only.

I have just downloaded and installed a Chrome browser and a Flash player to it. I have tried browsing the internet, checking some of my blogs, microblog accounts, and signed on to some of my social networking accounts. It hasn’t slowed down or did anything weird yet.

So far, it is faring well. Battery life isn’t as long as I expected but I didn’t fully charge it yet. When I started using it, it had around 60% power left and I was able to use it for more than an hour before it asked to be charged. It hasn’t overheated, which is a common problem of Neo laptops. So that’s a good sign.

I have been a Neo user since 2008 when I was given my Neo Empriva Laptop.

I have since bought a netbook for better mobility. But tomorrow, I will be testing a Neo netbook. I am not sure yet what model I will be given for review but I’m guessing it will be the Basic B330. Coincidentally, my cousin bought one of those recently.

The Basic B330 has an Atom 450 processor and a 320 GB hard drive disk. It has a 10.1 inch LCD Display and weighs only around 1.2 kilograms. Lightweight!

Neo B330 Netbook

The suggested retail price for this netbook is only P17,999. A great deal for anybody in the Philippines looking for a lightweight functional laptop.

Excited to try a Filipino product.

Know more about the Neo netbook on this blog. Updates and review starting tomorrow.

Kidding! That photo was taken during the Neo Edge Davao Press Launch, held earlier today, October 16, 2009 at the Cattleya Room of the Apo View Hotel. Neo Edge is the new line of netbooks/notebooks of Neo.

Why the slash? Because Neo Edge combines the portability of a netbook with the functionalities of a notebook. And it is powered by Intel processors and comes with a Windows 7 OS. Neo Edge Z3265 (P49,999 SRP) has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and packaged with a Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. Meanwhile, the Neo Edge Z3260 (P39,999 SRP) has an Intel Pentium processor and a Windows 7 Home Basic Edition. The battery life of both models is around 4 hours, and each has a 2 GB DDR3 memory and a 13.3″ High Definition display screen. Each one only weighs around 1.4 kg. Lightweight, I tell you! And they’re pretty slick too. Weighing slightly more at 1.5 kg is the Neo Edge Z3240 (P45,999 SRP) which has an Intel Premium processor, a 3 GB memory, a 13.3 inch LCD screen, and bundled with a Windows Vista Home Premium OS. And the Z3265 and Z Z3240 are both 3G capable.

Neo Edge

The Neo Edge is nice, sleek, portable, and proudly Philippine made. I want to have one!

If the Neo Edge is not for you, there are other Neo notebooks that might be for you. Their Neo Basic line is consist of no frills laptops with basic design and basic functionalities. The Neo Vivid series consist of pretty and colorful laptops. Their advanced machines belong to the Neo Elan Series which are optimized for graphic artists, gamers and other users who demand maximum performance from their laptops. Because with Neo, there’s always one for you.
