Asus Eee PC 1005P Seashell in Black

I am quite happy with my Asus Eee PC 1005HA. So I was excited to see that Asus has a new Eee PC: Eee PC 1005P Seashell.

The 1005P runs on an Intel Atom N450 processor and on ASUS Super Hybrid Engine technology. It also has an Express Gate, “an ancillary operating system that boots up in seconds” that allows you to multi-task at a fast speed. Just like what I do and need to do all the time.

It has a 10.1″ LED display, an ergonomic keyboard, and a multi-touch touchpad.

It can run for as long as 11 hours with a 6 cell battery or for as long as 5 hours with a 3 cell battery. That’s a lot of work and productivity in a sleek, lightweight netbook.

In the Philippines, Asus retails these nifty netbooks at PhP19,900 (with a Windows 7 Starter OS and a 250GB hard disk) and PhP18,500 (with no OS but with a 320 GB hard disk). And they have a promo until August 31, 2010. You get a free ODD, an Asus Slim DVD-RW drive, when you buy an Asus Eee PC 1005P.

I love my Neo Laptop but it’s been with me for years. Yes, years! I don’t dare count or I might pity myself too much.

So yeah, I am looking for a new netbook. Budget… P20,000 – 30,000. Specs?

Errr… Sadly, I can’t explain the tech aspect but here’s the stuff I use my laptop for:

• Internet surfing;
• Uploading and downloading stuff;
• MS Office – this is a must;
• Simple image editing; and
• Basic video editing using ULead Video Studio and Windows Movie Maker.

And it shouldn’t be too big or heavy. I am starting to have back and shoulder pains already.
